I've noticed since TS3 Seasons there has been a lot of crashing, and I decided to share my little tactic with you guys - and also for a future reference for me, if I ever forget. It really does work and it saves you a whole lot of trouble and stress.
NOTE: YOU SHOULD DO THIS BEFORE INSTALLING ANY NEW EP'S OR SP'S.
Step 1) Create a new folder on your desktop and name it whatever you want.
Step 2) Now go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3
Step 3) Cut and paste every single file and folder into your desktop folder
ALL GAME SAVES, CC, ETC ARE SAFE - DO NOT WORRY.
The purpose of this method is to force your game into starting all over again, no mods, no saves, no cc.
Step 4) Start the game
Now just have a little free play or go into CAS, test out creating someone, a house, whatever the problem used to be - try doing it. Now it isn't happening though is it?
Yes peach, but that's because there's no CC and its fresh and new BUT I WANT CC.
I know. So here's what you do:
Step 5) Once you're done testing, go back to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete all new files and folders
Step 6) Now paste your original files and folders from your desktop folder back into The Sims 3 folder
Now test the game again, is it working? Is the problem solved and is it clean again?
Or, is it still happening? If so, you know from your previous test whether the problem is a mod or bad CC or the actual game. A tutorial on finding and destroying bad CC will be up soon for Signature Sim members only.
